1. WHAT COOKIES ARE

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies — local storage, pixels, tags and software development kits — and in this policy we refer to all of them as "cookies".

2. YOUR CONSENT

2.1 We use a consent management platform (our self-hosted Google Consent Mode v2 platform) to obtain, record and manage your consent.

2.2 STRICTLY NECESSARY COOKIES ARE SET WITHOUT CONSENT because the Website cannot function without them. ALL OTHER COOKIES ARE SET ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE GIVEN FREE, SPECIFIC, INFORMED AND UNAMBIGUOUS CONSENT by an affirmative action.

2.3 No non-essential cookie or tag fires before you make a choice. Refusing is as easy as accepting: the banner offers "Accept all", "Deny" and a customisation option with equal prominence. Continuing to browse or scrolling is NOT treated as consent.

2.4 Consent is granular. You may accept some categories and refuse others.

2.5 YOU CAN CHANGE OR WITHDRAW YOUR CONSENT AT ANY TIME by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. Withdrawal is as easy as giving consent and takes effect immediately for future processing.

2.6 We keep a record of your consent (consent ID, timestamp, the categories accepted, the consent state and the version of the cookie declaration) for up to 12 months, so that we can demonstrate compliance. Your consent choice is renewed at least every 12 months.

3. THE CATEGORIES WE USE

NECESSARY — Always active. Required for the Website to work: security, load balancing, session handling, form state, fraud prevention, and storing your cookie consent choice itself. These cannot be switched off. PREFERENCES (functional) — Remember choices you make, such as language, region or display settings, to give you a more personal experience. STATISTICS (analytics) — Help us understand how visitors use the Website, in aggregate: which pages are viewed, where visitors come from, where they get stuck. Used to improve the Website. MARKETING — Used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and, where applicable, to display relevant advertising across websites. These may be set by third parties. UNCLASSIFIED — Cookies we are in the process of classifying, together with their providers.

4. FULL COOKIE DECLARATION

The cookies and similar technologies in use on maldives-traveller-declaration.com are listed below with their name, provider, purpose, storage duration and category. We review and update this list whenever we add, remove or change a tool that stores anything on your device.

No cookie in the Statistics or Marketing category is stored unless you accept it.

5. GOOGLE CONSENT MODE v2

5.1 Where we use Google services (such as Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager or Google Ads), we operate them through GOOGLE CONSENT MODE v2, signalled by our consent management platform.

5.2 This means all Google tags are set to a DENIED state by default, before you make any choice. No Google cookie is written and no identifier is stored until and unless you consent. Your consent state is then signalled to Google, which adjusts the behaviour of its tags accordingly.

5.4 ad_user_data controls whether user data may be sent to Google for advertising purposes. ad_personalization controls whether data may be used for personalised advertising or remarketing. Both remain denied unless you accept the Marketing category.

5.5 Where a signal is denied, Google may still receive cookieless, non-identifying pings that do not read or write information on your device, and may use aggregate conversion and behavioural modelling to estimate results. This modelling does not identify you.

5.6 This configuration supports our obligations under the GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive and the EU Digital Markets Act, which require prior consent before personal data is collected through Google's platforms and services.

6. THIRD PARTIES

Third-party cookies may be set by the providers of our analytics, advertising, consent management, video, mapping and support tools. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. Details, including each provider's identity and the duration of each cookie, are shown in the cookie declaration in section 4.

7. BROWSER CONTROLS AND OPT-OUT SIGNALS

7.1 You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the Website from working.

7.2 We honour the GLOBAL PRIVACY CONTROL (GPC) signal where your browser sends it, treating it as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing under applicable US state privacy law.

7.3 There is no single accepted standard for "Do Not Track" browser headers, and we do not currently respond to them; use the cookie settings panel or GPC instead.
